STS is a not-for-profit organisation and our program fees are used to cover the costs of providing the program in Australia and overseas. We have made a rough estimation of the cost breakdown in order to show you what you pay for.

  • 24% of the costs arise in Australia and go to screening and selection of students, students and family orientations, handling and processing of students applications and visas, office and staff support during the stay overseas, promotion of the program to schools, communities and students
  • 38% of program costs go to transportation (domestic and international flights, other domestic transportation, ticket processingm transfers and airport supervision)
  • 35% of program costs arise in the host country for recruitment of field staff and their training, host family recruitment, host family screening and selection, orientation meetings, processing of host family applications, school enrolments, office and staff support
  • 3% of program costs are administrative and financial costs for office and staff as well as accounting and depreciation of assets.
