Most of our host families live in small towns or villages near a bigger city, which are very picturesque with their chalets and stunning surroundings. In winter, the landscape is covered with snow and you really feel like living in a fairy tale.

After a rather plain breakfast, as in most central European countries, the whole family has a proper lunch together. On weekdays lunch is usually around 1 or 2 pm. If the host mother works as well, the main meal will be in the evening. On saturdays you have lunch around 12. For dinner the Austrian family often have a light meal.

You will go sightseeing with your family. Weekend trips to nearby countries are quite common for Austrians.

Austrians are known for their “Gemütlichkeit”, i.e. their peaceful and relaxed personality, and their great hospitality. You will feel very welcome in your new family and community.
