The Danish people are absolutely extraordinary. They have been named the happiest people in the world several times, which caused Oprah to recently fly over and do a show specifically about it! Everyone is unbelievably kind and warm and helpful and I have never had an issue with making friends or having a good time. The language, Danish, is one of the hardest languages for an English speaking person to learn but once you have it down, it is extremely rewarding. In my first week here, I had a total of 8 people ask me to say "rød grød med fløde" (which is a dessert, similar to strawberry jam and cream). Luckily, since I have been here I believe I have met only one person who did not speak English, so the transition from speaking English to Danish was made much easier because everyone understood me and was able to help teach me Danish. And as soon as I get home to Melbourne, I'll be organising my ticket back to wonderful wonderful Copenhagen in 2011!
