German family life
Spending time with your family is very important. On weekdays families try to eat at least one daily meal together. On weekends your host family may go visit friends or relatives, go on a short sightseeing trip or go cycling together. Going to the theatre or to a museum are also common weekend activities. Sunday is usually for relaxing and preparing for the coming working week.
German youth are usually very independent and have quite some freedom in regard to curfews and outings on weekends. This may mean more freedom than you are used to but also more responsibility. It is very important that your host family can trust you.
As a member of the family you will have to help out with house duties. For instance, you can take the dog for a walk, do the dishes, or surprise your family with a culinary speciality from your native country.
