Italian family life
Italians are traditionally happy, sociable and tolerant people who enjoy having a good time.
Food plays a central role in their lives. In Italy it is common to have a fairly plain breakfast (an espresso or a cappuccino with a cornetto), then get together for lunch and eat a substantial meal. At around 8pm, it's time for dinner and sharing the day’s events around the family table. Dinner usually starts with pasta, followed by fish or meat and vegetables.
Family life and activities are very important to the Italians. An Italian family usually consists of two parents with two or three children, or even five or more in southern Italy.
Italians shake hands when they meet and women exchange a light kiss on the cheek. It is common use to say hello to the people you cross in your neighbourhood.
