I live in the province of Toledo in a real picturesque little Village called Castillo de Bayuela. The village is full of really friendly people, where everybody knows everyone and is like family. Even though I was a little shy at the start because of the Spanish language the people were so welcoming and helpful that I made a lot of friends. Life in Spain is beautiful, very care free, relaxed and treasured by people to live the most of every moment. The food is absolutely delicious! I think that is one of the things I will always remember (plus the extra kilos) ha! Most of the day revolves around meal times, cooked with much love and care. The food in Spain is very important when coming together with your family in a delicious feast. Oh and as for the siestas! They are the best invention of Humanity! I love falling asleep for at least one hour after a delicious meal. Siestas is the time after lunch where you can relax. As for my wonderful family I can’t believe how lucky I am!! I couldn’t ask for anymore, they are so kind and generous and I really feel I’m a part of the family. They are very enthusiastic for me to see all the wonderful sights of Spain and experience it holy and truly! I have been lucky to visit a few other towns (so far!!) in Spain and each has their own artistic flare with unique historic architecture. School is very different from Australia, their curriculum is very straight forward and you are not given many choices between subjects but I am always learning new things and improving especially in the Spanish accent and pronunciation. I really think it’s a great idea to go on exchange, you learn so much about a new way of living, a new culture and you grow when absorbed in a new environment and language. So if you are a fun loving person and like to be around people of an interesting, out-going fun natured vibe, you will definitely find it at home in Spain! I know I will treasure, remember and appreciate this experience for the rest of my life.
