Swiss family life

Over 70 % of Swiss families rent their apartments or houses. In many families the mother is a housewife. Families consist usually of both parents and one or two children.

Swiss have the reputation to work hard, both academically and professionally, and are world famous for their punctuality. It's not for nothing Switzerland is the clock country by excellence!

The main meal is taken in the middle of the day. In the evening, dinner is served around 6 or 7 pm and is usually light. The meals are family gatherings, during which every member has the possibility to share the daily events.

The Swiss are very aware of the nature and its beauty. Environmental issues have always been of great concern to them. Swizterland is known as the cleanest countries in the world and that is thanks to its tidy, environment conscious inhabitants.

On weekends train stations are filled with people on their way to a hike in the mountains. Other popular sports are soccer, ball games in general, swimming, biking and of course skiing and snowboarding.
