Dutch people love sports, either to watch or to practice.

The most popular sport is soccer, the most famous Dutch club being Ajax-Amsterdam.

Ice skating, swimming, tennis, field hockey, sailing, wind surfing, basketball, badminton and many other sports are also popular. To join a sport you have to become a member of a sports club (“vereniging”). There are a lot of "verenigingen" and for all sorts of activities: scouting, music, ballet, choir, dancing, drama, handcraft, painting, just to mention some.

Nearly every Dutch has a bicycle. Bike paths cover the whole country. People ride bicycles to work, to school, to go shopping or just to get around. You could easily tour the entire country on a bicycle!
