Samba at the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazil

- home to the Amazon, the carnival and the samba

Brazil is characterized by the extensive Amazon Rainforest in the north, the world's largest tropical rainforest, and a more open terrain of hills and low mountains to the south — home to most of Brazil's population.

Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is known worldwide for the elaborate parades staged by the city’s major samba schools and is one of the world’s major tourist attractions. The parades run over four entire nights.

Brazil is also a country of music and dance. Strong influences on the music of Brazil come from all parts of the world. Samba is undoubtedly the most internationally famous form of Brazilian music.
