You will be spending a lot of time with your host family during cosy evenings at home, parties and family get-togethers. Americans also love to celebrate holidays. During your exchange program you may have the opportunity to celebrate the very traditional ”Thanksgiving” with turkey on the menu and the crazy ”Halloween”.

Barbecues are very popular and the most common way of socializing in the USA. Barbecue parties usually include the entire family, neighbours and friends. A great way for you to meet many new people besides your classmates and host family!

Americans also love to go out, for all kinds of events. You will be attending many sports games, music concerts and other community events. Your social life will be busy!

In regard to rules, most American families are fairly strict and have curfew times for their children and students. You might not be allowed to go out with your friends every weekend but they will make sure that you always have a fun and safe time.
