Wie geht? Wie war dein Tag?
- from Jess, QLD, exchange year in Austria
Hey! I can’t believe how quickly time has passed. It feels like I only got here yesterday. I am so glad I am going for a year not six month....
Going on a student exchange.. I think is one of the best things I have ever done! I am learning so much... such as German. Hehe. Now at school I always have to speak German and yeh sometimes it’s a bit confusing but I am starting to do ok now.
I really really love my school. My teachers are so nice and they even made up a special timetable for me so that way I get to take German lessons with the younger classes as well... so 4 times a week I have German with the first and second class (11 and 12 year olds) and they are so so so so cute. Really. But the only problem I had with them was that I had to speak German with them from day one. So basically up until the last month all I could really say to them was "Hey, Wie Geht? Wie war dein tag?". (hey, how r u, how was ur day?).. very interesting conversation.
I have made so many friends over here that I know I will have for life and I have also made lots of friends through STS. Actually my best friend over here, Halys, originally comes from Noosa, which is really good seeing as I live in Brisbane.
But doing a student exchange is one of the most rewarding thing I think I will ever do! So many new experiences and yeh meeting new people.. it’s all fantastic.
And I would recommend it to anyone. Oh and come to Austria.. it is the best place in the world!
Love Jess.

The best part is not over yet!
